Monique T. Abrishami

Ms. Abrishami is a litigator, an investigator, an experienced trial attorney, and a former federal prosecutor. Her practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation.

Ms. Abrishami specializes in helping clients survive existential threats—most often threats posed by federal governmental investigations and prosecutions. Clients turn to her because of her experience, perspective, skill, and savvy. Ms. Abrishami has over a dozen years of litigation experience and has tried more than fifteen cases to judgment. She routinely handles sensitive, high-profile, and fast-paced investigations and represents clients in state and federal district, bankruptcy, and appellate courts throughout the country.

Ms. Abrishami has been recognized by Chambers & Partners because of her deep and diverse practice.

  • Ms. Abrishami represents companies, unions, non-profit organizations, and individuals under investigation by the Department of Justice, Congress, the Internal Revenue Service, and other federal and state entities. She advocates on behalf of her clients with government officials, institutes and oversees media strategies to avoid or mitigate negative outcomes, works affirmatively to prevent business and reputational crises, and manages clients through those crises when they occur. Where matters proceed to indictment, Ms. Abrishami navigates clients through the justice system to achieve the best possible outcome.
  • Ms. Abrishami conducts efficient internal investigations on behalf of clients involving, for example, allegations of multimillion-dollar frauds, inquiries regarding use of federal grant funds, and questions concerning compliance with federal laws and regulations.
  • Ms. Abrishami assists organizations to steer through changing regulatory enforcement priorities, helping them to anticipate and prepare for potential legal issues in advance.
  • Ms. Abrishami handles complex civil litigation, which has included representation of state and tribal entities in opioid lawsuits, an individual terminated in violation of federal whistleblower protections, a high net-worth business owner in dispute with his partner over the future of their companies, national construction companies in a multimillion-dollar dispute with a supplier, plaintiffs recovering insurance proceeds for mass tort liability in complex bankruptcies, and organizations receiving civil document requests from government agencies and third parties.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Abrishami clerked for Judge Diana Gribbon Motz of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and served as a Trial Attorney in the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she investigated and prosecuted public officials—including sitting U.S. Senator Robert Menendez—in corruption and fraud cases across the country.

Ms. Abrishami is fluent in Spanish.
